Strategic Marketing, Associate/Director

We are seeking a dedicated and self-motivated professional within the marketing function of our growing biotech company. This dynamic position will manage the development and coordination of the commercial strategy and support decision making regarding the development of XenoPort’s products.

Responsibilities include

  • developing comprehensive plans for product strategy with brand positioning, tactical implementation and affiliated budgets;

  • providing strategic input and driving the tactical execution of the pre-launch marketing plans, including communications, key-expert engagement, public relations, disease-state awareness and patient advocacy;

  • managing agency relationships (creative agencies, medical communication companies, media planning companies, web development companies, meeting planning companies)

  • leading cross-functional and cross-partner teams providing tactical support while practicing company and industry best practices;

  • developing market research strategy with primary and secondary market research agencies, to ensure that projects meet expectations for quality, timeliness and budget;

  • providing competitive business insights with sales records, market penetration, market potential and future trends to make actionable recommendations based on findings;

  • working in collaboration with Business Development and Medical Affairs to identify experts for assessment of new licensing compounds or therapeutic areas of interest;

  • ensuring that all programs are planned and conducted in accordance with company guidelines, team timelines and budget constraints; and

  • staying up to date on the compliance and regulatory environment.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in scientific/technical or business discipline required (MBA/PharmD/PhD preferred) with 5-10 years of pharmaceutical commercial experience; CNS experience is a plus. Proven experience selecting, developing and evaluating personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Demonstrated strategic thinker with analytical skills for ability to formulate and develop complex commercial strategy. Proven project-management skills to include planning, prioritization, objective setting, meeting management and plans execution with outside advertising and creative agencies; travel up to 25%. Strong interpersonal skills with ability to lead, interact with, focus, resolve conflict and drive consensus among individuals from a variety of cultures and disciplines. Entrepreneurial spirit with ‘hands on’ approach to work with autonomy and limited resources, at times. Excellent communication and presentation skills--efficiently and productively communicate orally and in writing--with ability to convey brand strategy and tactical implementation steps.
